On February 20, 2008, Winston travels to Chicago and met with Dr. Leora Cherney and her support group. Winston demonstrates how he speaks with the use of technological equipments. He shows his interests and concern in protecting the environment and stopping the global warming, followed by a discussion and a Q&A session.

After the class, Winston and Brooke invited three graduate students who specialize in aphasia to come to dinner with them. They went to Casa Nueva, an organic worker-owned restaurant that serves all local food and contracts with many local small businesses for its supplies. Winston was impressed by the sustainability focus of the place, and took photos of the list of small local organic businesses. One of the students, Maria, is from Russia (Moscow). Another, Sabine, is from Germany (Leipzig). The third, Kelsey, is from Las Vegas. Winston has a waiter take pictures of them together there.

In February 2008, Winston traveled to Ohio University and met with Dr. Brooke Hallowell, the Director of the School of Hearing, Speech and Language Sciences.
On Monday, February 18th, Winston visited Dr. Hallowell's class and demonstrated how he talked with the use of technological equipments. The students enjoyed Winston's speech, and were amazed by Winston's technique to talk as an aphasia patient. They were also amazed by Winston's enthusiasm in promoting the importance of saving the earth by helping to stop global warming. "What can we do?" "What shall we do?"
In the evening Winston had dinner with Dr. Hallowell and three of her students. On Tuesday morning Winston spent more time with Dr. Hallowell before his departure to Chicago and met with Dr. Leora Cherney of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Read on for ore about the meeting in Chicago.
I will be making a two-day speaking appearance at school in Athens, Ohio, on February 18. The location is the College of Health and Human Services, Grover Center, at Ohio University and the audience will consist of people who have, or are concerned about, aphasia.
After the Athens event, I will proceed to Chicago to meet with Dr. Leora Cherney, an expert on aphasia who has done work in South Africa --- where I am also traveling, later in the year. Dr. Cherney is associated with the Rehabilitation Institute (RIC) in Chicago and operates a program to assist aphasia victims.
Dr. Cherney operates a six-week program aimed at assisting aphasia victims to improve and live more meaningful lives. I will undergo an assessment of my own situation with Dr. Cherney, will meet with her and her students, and, afterward, when I return home, will undergo her six-week course on the Internet.
My biggest undertaking for the year is a journey to South Africa where I hope to visit with experts in this field and to talk to aphasia groups.
